As aircraft engines are becoming more and more powerful and use more exotic materials, the internal stresses on engine components are increasing. There is a marked increase in the types of assessment of indications sought during an inspection. 

Recently Air India took a new approach to engine inspection in their engine overhaul facility. Using the latest advances in visual inspection technology and software, they increased their probability of detection while drastically reducing inspection times.

BHGE recently broke ground on its Inspection Technology Customer Solutions Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. The new facility, which will employ as many as 40 people, will help improve integrity, control quality and drive efficiency across oil and gas, additive, aviation and automotive industries.


In May 2017, world's leading industrial quality fair took place in Stuttgart, Germany. At the GE booth, a bundle of inspection technology innovations has been launched to exhibit customer solutions especially for industrial X-ray and Computed Tomography inspection.

Can you believe PII Pipeline Solutions RunCom™ service turns 18 this year?

RunCom is the tool used to determine the location and extent of corrosion growth between two or more in-line inspection (ILI) surveys.  Over the last 18 years, RunCom has been used to evaluate corrosion growth in over 160,000km of pipeline - equivalent to having travelled around the world 4 times!    

In December 2016, Kimberlite Research interviewed key decision makers at 51 pipeline companies to learn more about these challenges.
