GE’s Port Northwest Manufacturing Facility Accredited by Measurement Canada

HOUSTON, TEXAS - August 21, 2013 -GE’s (NYSE: GE) Measurement & Control business today announced that the GE Port Northwest global manufacturing facility in Houston, Texas has received accreditation from Measurement Canada for the verification and re-verification of GE’s Dresser* natural gas meters and instruments used for custody transfer measurement applications. Measurement Canada is the federal government agency responsible for developing and administering Canada’s laws and requirements governing gas utilities measurement.

  • For almost a century, GE’s Dresser meters have been used for billing of commercial and industrial gas loads. To meet the evolving needs of its customers in Canada and around the world, GE’s product line has expanded to include a wide variety of control and measurement equipment.
  • GE’s Dresser meters and instruments products include a comprehensive range of rotary, turbine, and diaphragm meters, metering instrumentation, and test equipment for the global natural gas distribution and transmission industry.
  • Accuracy, dependability, and low maintenance are of key importance in custody transfer measurement applications. GE’s time-proven Dresser meter is the preferred rotary positive displacement gas meter in distribution, transmission and production segments for accurate measurement of gas – from the well to the burner.

“This new Measurement Canada accreditation underscores GE’s ongoing commitment to our Canadian customers,” said Freddy Santos, Quality Leader, GE Measurement & Control for GE Oil & Gas. “Building upon the sustained long-term precision of Dresser metering products, we have fully implemented processes to comply with Canada’s requirements throughout our global operation in Houston, ensuring integrity and accuracy of our robust suite of gas meters and instruments that serve the Canadian gas utility industry.”
