GE Holds Successful X-ray Inspection and CT User Conference in Germany
HANNOVER/WUNSTORF, GERMANY - September 5, 2013 - The ninth GE X-ray Forum held in late August proved an eminent success, attracting more than 150 delegates from 25 countries around the globe. Featuring numerous technology and customer application presentations, interactive tutorials and intense practical software and system workshops, the forum was held in Hannover and at the world-class GE Inspection Technologies plant in Wunstorf, Germany.
Keynote technology presentations featured the latest radiographic developments from GE. Of note, a presentation by the German Federal Institute for Materials Research and Testing (BAM) highlighted the conversion process from film to digital radiography, as well as the new ISO standard for radiographic weld inspection. Additionally, a Volkswagen AG presentation on the implementation of the first fast helix CT scanner at its Hannover foundry was met with rave reviews, as attendees received a first-hand look at best practices for ensuring process control and optimization in cylinder head manufacturing.
Papers presented by acknowledged radiography experts and GE customers covered the comprehensive and ever-increasing scope of digital 2D X-ray inspection and Computed Tomography (CT). Presentations focused on practical, real-world experiences in industrial and scientific radiography applications in materials science, quality assurance, 3D metrology, digital conversion in subsea pipeline inspection, the automotive and aerospace sectors and the inspection of electronics components.
Forum attendees benefitted not only from learning how peers solved quality problems and scientific issues, saved valuable inspection time or gained greater insight into processes or material structures by applying new X-ray technologies, but also by networking within an extensive user community. Additionally, throughout a series of well-attended practical system and software tutorials and workshops, participants interacted side-by-side with GE technology and application experts.
